Community
Use Service
The
Community Use service has one 16 seat minibus permanently allocated
to it and the other 2 buses can be utilised on their downtime
from the other projects.
All of our minibuses are fully accessible which means that the
majority of people can use the vehicles.
In
order to access the community use service the group should be
a local constituted community group, however, because of the nature
of the APT service and the Baby bus we also take bookings from
individuals who need accessible transport and do not have transport
of their own.
We
have regular bookings for a wide variety of customers from local
Brownie and Rainbow packs to sheltered housing shopping trips
and Arthritis Care entertainment evenings. We also help out groups
such as the local Fiddlers and the Round Table who need to travel
to a variety of places for fundraisers etc.
The
main community use bus is available all day every day but has
a permanent priority booking for the local after school care group.
This allows parents to know that their children are safely transported
to a good quality after school and it ensures that any after school
worries people may have are allayed, thus encouraging people back
into the workplace.
There
is a fixed charging system in place for this service. The bigger
16 seat vehicles are charged at 65p per mile or 40p per kilometre
and the smaller 9 seat Baby bus costs 45p per mile. Should a user
be going further than 100 miles we will offer a discount of 10%.
We
have a list of MiDAS trained volunteer drivers which we send out
to potential users when they first book with us, they then contact
the driver and makes the arrangements directly with them. However,
over the years many of our regular customers have had their own
driver trained which makes everything much easier.
