Alongside the Baby bus we run a small car transport project. This is in the infant stages and at present we have ten volunteer drivers along with some from our management committee and staff who can back up the car service whenever possible.

This service does not receive any funding at present, therfore we have to increase our fundraising activities to keep it going

However, we have recently had new volunteers express an interest in joining this project and we hope to be able to increase our levels of service very soon.

To do this we have had to put together new policies, add excess and bonus insurance to our levels of insurance, ensure that all disclosure checks go through as fast as possible and work out a way to asses their driving abilities since this was an area that we felt was of great importance.

We have asked one of our volunteer minibus drivers; a sergeant with the traffic department of the police in Aberdeen who previously assessed the driving of local taxi drivers for the police, to undertake an informal assessment for all volunteer car drivers.
